Am audio story about my great-grandmother Sofia who passed away at 105 y.o. and about myself; a story about living between two worlds.
I wrote this poem as a new immigrant in the U.S. At the time I was working 80-100 hrs/week in a gas station while attending a community college full time. Today, as a PhD student at Cornell University I find that not as much has changed: I am still walking the tightrope between two worlds to whom I only partially belong.
The photo shows the Romanian unpaved road on which, as a child, I used to carry water from the fountain (at the bottom of the hill) to my great-grandmother house.
